Counselling Approach

“The greatest genius will never be worth much if he pretends to draw exclusively from his own resources.”

Johann Wolfgang Van Goethe

thinkHARD-WORK, SELF-DISCIPLINE, AND WILLPOWER. These are the qualities we THINK we need to invoke change. Researchers, however, have discovered that the actual mechanism of change is through a relationship with a person or group who shows them the way. It’s not just any relationship, it has to be an emotional relationship with someone who inspires hope and belief, who makes you feel, “If she can do it, I can, too.” That, in a nutshell, is the approach.

Are you familiar with the expression, “What you think about, you bring about”?  Mental power is creative power. Your ability to think gives you the ability to create for yourself. This understanding is where I direct your focus.  You can actually choose the way you think. Using a number of approaches including Cognitive-Behavioural, Strengths-Based (also known as Positive Thinking or Learned Optimism), Positive Psychology, Client-Centred, and Law of Attraction, I will help you to understand how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviour result in the life you are living. To make changes in your life requires a change in the way you think. The mindset that created the problem will not be the same mindset that solves the problem. To make positive changes in your life means developing a positive attitude which includes your thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and self-talk so that you can achieve your goals and live the life you want.

Imagineering Counselling Services can facilitate positive change by improving your thinking, helping you move forward in your career, business, and relationships.

Consider for a moment….Do you realize that every minute of every day, everything you do, is for the purpose of seeking personal happiness? Each of us is striving to be happy. Happiness is the state of being that you recognize as your true self – your true nature. That’s right – happiness is your birthright! We were born with this nature, and through the course of our life, we lose sight of that nature… and we want it back. Personal happiness begins with your mental attitude of how you think about things and the beliefs you hold.  Personal thoughts are very powerful and your beliefs are the blueprint of your life. The outer conditions of your life will always be in harmony with your inner emotional and mental state.

“Your Mental Garden”

gardenWhen you think about your own attitude or, “way of thinking” consider this – your attitude is the result of what has been planted consciously, or what has developed unconsciously in your mental garden. Seeds of doubt, fear, anxiety, insecurity, and/or worry, to name but a few negative thought patterns, once planted in the mind, continue to grow with each negative thought added. Think of each and every negative thought as nourishment for the original negative seed. Continued negative thoughts grow to produce a firmly planted negative outlook and attitude.  Basically, you harvest from your garden that which you plant. As a farmer, if you planted corn, you would expect to harvest corn, you would not expect to harvest apples. The same applies to your thoughts. You cannot expect to harvest the effects of positive thinking if you planted and nourished negative thoughts. I quote James Allen when I write, “Good thoughts and actions can never produce bad results; bad thoughts and actions can never produce good results”.

Are you beginning to see the wisdom in being more discriminating about the things you think about? Imagine how you can change your life if you simply changed the way you think? Through counselling, I help you to understand how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviour result in the life you are currently living. Caution: Counselling can facilitate positive change by encouraging positive thinking.

Dare to imagine a better life!
